Frequently Asked Questions
How Cullify Works
Cullify performs all analysis entirely on your device. The app examines images locally to compute visual signals (faces, text, scene content, etc.) and groups assets into buckets. No photos are uploaded to our servers for analysis.
No — Cullify will never delete or permanently modify your original photos without explicit action from you. Deletion actions use the Photos app delete flow and require your confirmation.
Yes. Photo analysis runs locally so the core features work offline. Subscription verification or restore requires network access.
Smart Buckets are AI-powered groups that organize your library by content type. Cullify includes Smart Buckets for Animals, Group Photos, Documents, Vehicles, Food, Sports & Activities, Black & White, and NSFW content. Detection runs on-device using Apple's Vision framework and on-device ML models. These Smart Buckets are part of Cullify Pro. Cullify also groups large “Storage Hogs” and long videos for everyone, free.
Open any bucket and you'll see a stack of photos. Swipe right to keep, swipe left to reject. You can also tap the favorite button to mark a photo as a favorite, view metadata in the info sheet, add the photo to an album, or share it. Rejected photos are collected in the Purge bucket — they aren't deleted until you confirm the deletion there.
Rejected photos move into the Purge bucket. From there you can review them as a grid, restore any you want to keep, or permanently delete the rest. Permanent deletion uses the standard Photos app delete flow and requires your confirmation — deleted photos go to Apple's Recently Deleted album, where they're recoverable for 30 days.
SFW (Safe For Work) Mode blurs thumbnails of photos Cullify has flagged as possibly NSFW so you can browse your library in public without showing sensitive content on screen. SFW Mode is currently a beta feature available to Cullify Pro subscribers with the beta toggle enabled in Settings.
Cullify works best with Full Access to your photo library so it can analyze and organize all of your photos. If you choose Limited Access, Cullify can only see and analyze the photos you specifically select. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Cullify.
Yes. Cullify scans your library in the background so Smart Buckets stay up to date. Scanning automatically pauses when your battery drops below 15% and resumes when conditions improve. Scanning also slows down while you're actively reviewing photos so the app stays responsive.
Cullify analyzes the local copies of your photos on the device. For photos that live only in iCloud (not yet downloaded), analysis is deferred until a local copy is available — Cullify will not force-download from iCloud during background scanning. Once iOS has a local copy, the photo will be picked up on a future scan pass.

Subscriptions are handled through in‑app purchases via the App Store. Payment processing is handled by Apple — Cullify never receives card numbers. The app verifies receipts with the App Store to determine your entitlement state.
Cullify Pro is offered as a Monthly or Yearly auto-renewing subscription through the App Store. Pricing is shown at checkout and may vary by region.
If a free trial or introductory offer is available for your region, it will be displayed in the paywall and at checkout in the App Store. Eligibility is determined by Apple based on your subscription history.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. To cancel, open the iOS Settings app → tap your name (Apple ID) → Subscriptions → select Cullify → Cancel Subscription. You can also reach this screen from inside Cullify via Settings → Manage Subscription.
Use the app's Restore Purchases flow in Settings. Restoration verifies your App Store purchases and restores entitlements on any device logged into the same Apple ID.
Refunds are handled by Apple via the App Store. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or your purchase history in the App Store. Contact support@cullify.app for help locating transaction details.
Privacy & Data
We only collect the minimal information required to manage subscriptions and restore purchases via the App Store. We do not receive or store your photos or payment card details. If crash reporting is added, we will disclose it on the Privacy page.
Photos and analysis data remain on your device. Any minimal metadata used for subscriptions is handled by the App Store; see our Privacy Policy for details.
Cullify keeps a local database on your device that records detection results, bucket assignments, and your review choices. This database is never uploaded. It lives in the app's private sandbox and is removed if you uninstall Cullify.
No. Cullify does not enable analytics or crash reporting by default. If we add either in the future, we'll disclose it on the Privacy Policy page first.
Uninstalling Cullify from your device removes the app's local database, cached thumbnails, and any cached settings. Your photos in the Photos app are not affected. Subscription receipts stored by the App Store are managed by Apple under their policies.
Usage & Support
No. Cullify does not upload or sync selections. Purchases can be restored via the App Store, but photo data and review state stay on each device.
Cullify requires iOS 18.0 or later and is currently iPhone only (no iPad app at this time). Some visual effects (such as Liquid Glass) require iOS 26 and fall back to standard materials on earlier versions.
Analysis time depends on library size and device performance. Cullify caches results so once a photo has been analyzed it doesn't need to be re-analyzed. Background scanning runs over time so very large libraries don't need to be processed all at once.
"Scanning…" means Cullify hasn't finished analyzing that photo yet. This usually resolves on its own as the background scanner works through your library. Common causes for delays: very large libraries, low battery (scanning pauses below 15%), or photos that haven't been downloaded from iCloud yet.
The Animals bucket combines Apple's built-in animal detection (which is most reliable for cats and dogs) with Cullify's own on-device detection for other animals. Some animals may be missed depending on lighting, angle, or how prominent the animal is in the frame.
Yes. For NSFW classification, you can manually mark an asset as NSFW or not-NSFW from the review screen. Your manual decision is permanent for that asset and overrides the model — Cullify will not re-evaluate that photo.
